FAQs

What materials and methods do you use?

Materials aka art mediums: I absolutely love painting in oil paints! I also draw and sketching in both charcoal and pen. You can go to my Portfolio to see the art that I have completed organized by subject type and material used.

Methods: My favorite way to create art is “En Plein Air” meaning “outside” in French or “from life”. This allows me to have the subject of the painting in front of me while I work. It includes most subjects i.e. flowers, classic cars, portraits, landscapes, etc. There are works that I do from photographic references when necessary. I am also more than happy to do this and will work with you to get high quality (high resolution) photos.

Do you paint “Plein Air” at events, or paint in person?

I absolutely do! Whether it is your wedding day, a company event, or a special occasion, I’d be happy to some and capture the moment to be forever remembered. I am also happy to travel to paint your commission in person, this is great option for portraits, landscapes and large objects that can’t be shipped.

I love your paintings! What if my favorite one already sold?

You’ve fallen in love with one of my paintings and it’s no longer available. Have no fear! Fill out the “Request a Commission” form at the top of the page and tell me in your message about the piece you loved. I would be happy to paint another piece custom for you!

How long does it take to have a commission completed?

The timeline depends on material and size.

Because of the slow drying time of oil paints I typically request 2-3 months from when I have started the painting. This may seem slow but the archival quality of oil paintings will stand the test of time if you allow the extra drying time before I varnish your painting. After varnishing and framing I will ship the painting to you!

Here are some things to think about for the commission process. After you have sent a “Request a Commission form” there will be a few questions I will ask you to get to know you and to get working.

  • What am I painting or drawing/what is the subject?

  • Would you enjoy the experience of me painting in person for your commission? I do prefer to be in person to capture your wedding, portrait, or classic car “En Plein Air” this is my favorite way to paint! this will add a travel expense to complete commission. My availability and expense will depend on travel season and demand, first come first served.

  • What medium do you want? Oil painting ($500 minimum) Pen and ink ($125 minimum) Charcoal ($200 minimum)

  • What size do you want? Depending on the subject matter I can recommend the size that will best display the art. I am happy to create as large a painting as you want please know it will take longer to complete. Once you have selected the size your would like and the medium I will give you the total commission cost. Oil painting (10”x14” minimum) Pen and ink (9”x12” minimum) Charcoal (9”x12” minimum)

  • How would you like it framed?

  • Shipping costs

Within the United States (FREE) International (dependent on size)

How much does your art cost?

My art work is a labor of love. It is priced by size and by material used. You can see my available work in my shop. All prices and dimensions are included. Also, at the bottom of my “Shop Artwork” page is a pricing list that gives you an idea of cost by size and material.

Is the artwork in your portfolio available to purchase?

You may have noticed my portfolio does not have pricing attached. Currently, the art is in my last studio in South Africa and, due to the recent Covid-19 events, it may take extra time to have the painting shipped to the USA. Your patience through this is appreciated, Please don’t hesitate to inquire about any painting you are interested in. If you are inspired by one of my paintings but would like a commission of a unique work of art made for you please fill out the “Request a Commission” form at the top of this page.

How does shipping work?

The age old question….is shipping free? I understand that we live in a time where retailers like Nordstrom and Amazon have established free shipping as a standard of “good customer service” and I couldn’t agree more!

Shipping is FREE for the continental USA! For all you wonderful collectors outside of the USA, the safety of your precious cargo is my priority, and for this reason there will be a shipping charge to ensure a safe voyage of your artwork.

Shipping to Hawaii? I require two round trip tickets to deliver your artwork in person…. 😉
